(May 2004) Eielson base housing is much nicer than most places in North Pole.  Here is our house on base.

(Mar 2001) We lived in a duplex in North Pole during our first year here.  It's not as nice on the inside as it looks from the outside.

(Jan 2002) Eielson Air Force Base on a winter day.  This picture was taken at about 4:00 in the afternoon.

(Jun 2004) A pretty amazing sunset.  It's especially amazing when you consider it's happening at 11:00 at night!

(Sep 2003) It's pretty flat around here.  You can see most of the base in the distance.

There's a lot of wildlife on base, especially moose...

...and sometimes there's even a bear hanging around.

(Jul 2004) What do Air Force people do when they're not at work?  They hang out...and they're really good at it, too.

(Jul 2003) Two dudes in chairs.  Phil and Wes demonstrate their advanced "hanging out" skills.

(Mar 2004) Even the Air Force spends some time pounding the ground.  Here's our mobile communications site all setup while we play some war games.

(Jun 2002) Eielson may be small, but it's spread out over 50,000 acres.  Some of our equipment can only be reached by ATV or helicopter.

(Aug 2003) The Air Force calls in it's most awesome pilot ever.  Yes I really did get to fly it, just not for the takeoff or landing.

See this F-16?  It's not the actual one I flew in, but it looks just like it!  It's kind of hard to take a picture of yourself taking off in an F-16.

I must concede that this is not the best picture of me.  However, I think it captures the feeling quite well.  Notice the pale skin and nauseated look on the face.  I didn't hurl, but I came pretty close.

This is what Denali National Park looks like from the cockpit of an F-16.  I wanted to drop some bombs but unfortunately we didn't bring any.
