Good morning, El Bratto and T-- This is my first time visiting your website. It was fun looking at all the pictures and Tanya's artwork is incredible! She is very talented. Well, we are finally getting settled out here in the middle of nowhere. We live in AZ but get our mail in Rodeo, NM as the post office is closer than Portal, AZ. We were getting the garbage bagged up this a.m. and I saw my first scorpion out here. My hero, The Great Buzzard, prompty smashed it. Last week in the a.m., he came in and said we had our first unwelcome visitor. I knew that meant he had come upon a rattlesnake. Unfortunately, it was laying next to the hoe we usually kill them with (had a lot in Tucson). I told Buzzard I'd be out to lend moral support. The only thing I could think of was to get some fire power so I went out with my Black Widow .22 and my .38 pistol. The blasted reptile was in a hard spot to decapitate it with a shovel, so I asked Buzz if I should try to shoot it. I knew I didn't have snake shot in the guns, but what the heck. Anyway, the short of it is, I blew it's head off. It was a small one; I think it was just a lucky shot. Unfortunately, there will probably be more occasions to get additional practice. It's warming up here--probably in the high 80s and low 90s, but has really cooled off at night. I suspect that will change soon as it gets consistently close to 100 degrees. We are eagerly awaiting the monsoon season which usually starts around the 4th of July. The cumulus clouds are beautiful and the storms, wild. We come in off the highway on 3 miles of dirt road. We're sure that when the violent rainstorms come some of the road will wash away and turn into a bog. It's highly likely there will be times we can't get out of here. Well, the Buzzard has pancakes ready, so gotta go. Hope all is well with you both. Thanks for the enjoyable reading. Love -- Aunt Bobby
