August 2006:
Mom came to visit again, this time in the summer! |
Mom took us to dinner in Angra,
and while we were there she decided to try some modeling. Here she
is turning on the charm for the boats in Angra harbor. Stay away
from the sailors, Mom! |
There's not much to do here on
the island, so Verrucka and I tried to entertain her with some tricks in
the kitchen. She was not very impressed. |

We wanted to make sure Mom knew
exactly where she was, so we found a great map and pointed it out.
Tanya met a really nice lady there, but she didn't talk much for some
reason. |
Mom heard this was a volcanic
island. Always the concerned parent, she donned a hardhat and
explored the volcanic underground, making sure everything was safe and
stable. |
We heard you could get to the
center of the earth this way. It may be possible, but it takes a
long time, and we didn't bring enough sandwiches, so we turned around. |
Nothing tops off a good day of
spelunking like dinner at an Italian restaurant. We actually went
swimming out there before dinner. There's no pictures of
that. Do you think I want to get killed? |
Okay, what the heck. This one is just too good
not to show. You have to be careful where you stand at the beach
around here. |
Mom vowed that she would be ready the next time one of
those sneaky waves came by. Tanya, being an expert snorkeler,
offered her some lessons. |
That's goat rock back there. It's called that
because supposedly the farmers take their goats out there and let them
graze all summer. It looks like that boat is about to slam
into the wall, doesn't it? That would've been funny. |
Yes, I am always a hit with the ladies. Another
successful Azores vacation for Mom! Thanks for coming to visit! |
